How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your song

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC — up to 25 MB and 8 minutes. The file is sent securely to the AI service and removed from temporary storage within about a day.

  2. 2

    Set the extension

Choose a target length (+30 seconds, +1 or +2 minutes) and optionally give the AI a direction, like "build to a big final chorus" or "wind down into an ambient outro".

  3. 3

    Let the AI continue it

Hit Extend with AI. Generation takes a minute or three; when it finishes you get an in-page player and an MP3 download of the longer track.

How AI song continuation actually works

An AI song extender does not loop or time-stretch your audio. The model listens to the uploaded track — its key, tempo, chord movement, instrumentation, even the character of the vocals — and then generates brand-new audio that picks up where the song leaves off. It is the same class of music model behind generators like Suno, pointed at continuation instead of creation from scratch.

That matters because a musical ending is more than extra seconds. A good continuation resolves the harmony, keeps the groove locked to the original tempo, and blends at the seam so the join is hard to spot. Simple loop-based "song extenders" can stretch a track's runtime, but they replay material you already have. Generative extension adds material that was never there.

What an AI music extender is good at

  • Finishing AI tracks that cut off. Suno and similar generators sometimes stop mid-phrase or hit their length cap before the song feels done. Uploading the track here and extending it is the fastest fix, and the style match is usually excellent because the source is AI-generated too.
  • Proper outros. A demo that ends abruptly can get a real ending: a final chorus, a wind-down, a fade that lands on the tonic instead of a hard cut.
  • Longer edits for DJs and content. A 90-second idea is awkward to mix or to sit under a longer video. Extending it to two and a half or three minutes gives you room to work with, without manually chopping and looping bars in a DAW.

Honest limits — read before you extend

Generative audio is impressive, not magic. Lyrics in the extended section are AI-written, so the model may sing new lines rather than reprise your exact hook. Very dense mixes, heavy distortion or unusual time signatures give the model less to lock onto, and the seam can be more audible there. And because generation is probabilistic, two runs on the same file will give two different continuations — if the first one is not right, run it again or steer it with a style hint.

The exact extension length is also up to the model. Your +30s / +1min / +2min choice is passed along as a target, but the AI ends phrases where they musically end. Treat the selector as a request, not a contract.

A quick note on quality

The extender works from what it hears, so source quality sets the ceiling. A clean 320 kbps MP3 or a WAV gives the model a much better read on the mix than a muffled low-bitrate rip. Results come back as MP3; if you plan to master the extended track or cut it into a video edit, keep your original lossless file so you can comp the two together at full quality later.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI song extender free?

You get 2 free AI extensions per day with no sign-up. If you need more, Pro is $9/month for unlimited extensions. Every other tool on SongToolbox stays completely free.

Do my files get uploaded?

For this tool, yes — AI continuation needs real compute, so your file is sent securely to the AI service for processing. Input files sit in temporary storage for about 24 hours and generated results are hosted for about 14 days, so download your copy promptly. Our other tools (sped up, slowed and reverb, nightcore, 8D) run entirely in your browser with no upload at all.

Can it extend songs made with Suno or other AI music generators?

Yes, and that is one of the most common uses. If a generated track cut off before a proper ending, upload it here and the extender will continue it in the same style. Keep the input under 8 minutes.

Can I choose the exact length of the extension?

You can pick a target of +30 seconds, +1 minute or +2 minutes, but the model decides exactly where the musical phrase ends. Expect the result to land near your target rather than on it to the second.

How long does an extension take?

Usually 1 to 3 minutes. The page checks progress automatically every few seconds and shows a player plus a download link the moment the audio is ready.

What files can I upload?

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC, up to 25 MB and 8 minutes long. The result comes back as an MP3 you can preview in the page and download.
